The Calgary Queer Arts Society is looking for a dynamic marketing director to support our growing team. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, visionary, and passionate about the intersection of equity, social justice, and the arts.

Job Description

Marketing:

  • Develop and implement a marketing plan across all facets of our programs.
  • Establish brand consistency across the program areas of the organization.
  • Create messaging, visual assets, and video content for use across platforms.
  • Participate in experiential marketing and brand awareness initiatives.
  • Development and implementation of contests and promotions.
  • Maintain and update our website and e-database and develop and implement web marketing campaigns and e-marketing
    solutions to grow the organizations’ profile.
  • Develop innovative ways to build brand awareness, and engage new audiences and diverse populations.
  • Manage ad budgets and plan ad buys that maximize our reach and engagement.
  • Assist with the execution of events and on-site social media engagement.

Communications and Public Relations:

  • Create and implement master plans for communications, and government relations.
  • Maintain and update our website, email database and social media channels.
  • Communicate the voice of the organization pertaining to external entities and media.
  • Maintain organizational presence within the LGBT community in consultation with the executive director.
  • Implement a crisis management plan.
  • Foster community partnerships with opportunities for cross-promotion.

Evaluation:

  • Capturing qualitative data on programming and marketing efforts through focus groups, surveys and other methods.
  • Capturing and reporting on audience demographics and psychographic data.
  • Maintain databases of audience and participant information.
  • Curate digital and physical historic data and archives.
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on the impacts of multiple marketing streams including impressions, web analytics, etc.

Finance:

  • Oversee the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow.
  • Monitor box office performance to assess against the marketing goals.
  • Report on expenditure forecasts.

Vendor Management:

  • Negotiate and manage relationships with vendors and contractors.
  • Negotiating advertising rates and media sponsorships.
  • Develop and manage relationships with artists and producers.

Qualifications

  • Marketing degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three+ years of experience in a marketing role demonstrating a track record of successful implementation of marketing plans on an organizational level.
  • Knowledge and experience in not-for-profit marketing and/or arts organizations.
  • A vision for how to provide a clear brand voice for LGBTQ organizations, knowledge and/or experience in the community
    considered an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Graphic design, photography, visual art or film editing skills also all considered assets.

Position: Marketing Director
Reports to: Executive Director
Schedule: Part-time (20 hours/week)
Pay: This position pays $32 hour plus benefits. Work schedule requires expanded hours and flexibility during peak periods, with time in lieu offered for overtime hours.
