The Department of Canadian Heritage, in cooperation with Veterans Affairs Canada and the National Capital Commission, invites teams of professional artists, landscape architects, architects, and other urban design professionals to submit their credentials and examples of prior work for the first part of a two-phase competition to design a national monument to commemorate Canada’s mission in Afghanistan.
The National Monument to Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan will recognize an important chapter in Canada’s history and pay tribute to the commitment and sacrifice of Canadians in helping to rebuild Afghanistan.

This is the first phase of a two-phase competition: The request for qualifications will evaluate qualifications to create a shortlist of up to five design teams, and the request for proposals will invite the finalists to develop concepts and select a winning proposal.
By submitting a submission, design teams confirm that they have read the entire request for qualifications and that:
- They consider themselves to meet all the mandatory eligibility requirements outlined in the document.
- All information provided is complete, true and accurate.
- They agree to be bound by the instructions, clauses and conditions of this request for qualifications and accept the clauses and conditions should they be invited submit a proposal as part of the request for proposals.
Le ministère du Patrimoine canadien, en collaboration avec Anciens Combattants Canada et la Commission de la capitale nationale, invite des équipes d’artistes professionnels, d’architectes paysagistes, d’architectes et d’autres professionnels de l’aménagement urbain à soumettre leurs références et des exemples de travaux antérieurs pour la première partie d’un concours en deux phases visant à concevoir un monument national à la mémoire de la mission du Canada en Afghanistan.
Le Monument national de la mission canadienne en Afghanistan reconnaîtra un chapitre important de l’histoire du Canada et rendra hommage à l’engagement et au sacrifice des Canadiens qui ont aidé à la reconstruction de l’Afghanistan.
