Casino Fundraiser

The staff and board of Mountain Standard Time Performative Art Festival Society (M:ST) would love your company at our upcoming fundraiser at the Elbow River Casino (218 18th Ave. SE) on Friday, July 20 and Saturday, July 21, 2018

In exchange for contributing volunteers to work staff positions every 18 months, non-profits are generously remunerated the bulk of their programming funds from the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission.

M:ST specifically saves the majority of these funds to pay artist and professional fees, accommodations, and per diems. It is because of this funding that we can offer generous support to our artists that exceed CARFAC recommendations. Our upcoming biennial, M:ST 9, will take place from September 7 to October 7, 2018, and these funds will be disbursed to over 20 emerging, local, national and international artists!

Never been a casino volunteer before? Not to worry, training is provided on site. As always, meals is free at the casino, and taxi chits can be provided as well as arranged rides with other volunteers.

Casino positions are described as follows:

  • General Manager: Responsible for overall continuity of casinomakes sure all volunteers arrive and if not, finds replacements; fills any position as necessary to facilitate breaks, if needed.
  • Banker: Controls all cash and chip inventories. Uses PC.
  • Cashier: Redeems players chips for cash.
  • Chip runner: Delivers chips from the Banker to the game tables and records chip inventories with the gaming floor employees.
  • Courtroom Staff: Sorts, counts and records money using count machines and PC’s.

If you have any questions or want to sign up, please email our Jordan Schinkel (Biennial Coordinator) at biennialcoordinator@mstfestival.org with your name, preferred contact info, and preferred volunteer position.
