Cinematographer

Currently seeking a cinematographer in the Calgary area with filming experience in the horror/ thriller genre. This will be for the short independent film Moja Mama which has been funded by TELUS Storyhive. We would love for you to be a collaborative partner on this film adventure; To help us in creating a hauntingly beautiful story with an emphasis on bringing an empathetic view to those who have been demonized.
Position Responsibilities:
- Liaising with the director/writer to translate ideas to the screen
- Operating camera and lighting equipment
- Ready access to their own camera/ lighting equipment considered an asset.
Available from mid-June to the end of July, 2018.
Compensation to be determined and finalized in person.

About the Film Moja Mama
Now in her final moments Emelia; an elderly woman residing at a nursing home in Phoenix, Alberta, confesses a long-buried secret. While being tended to by her night nurse she pulls them aside to tell the story of her childhood and of how she was raised by a vampiric mother. Emelia divulges in the deeds she had to commit in order to keep her mother’s true identity a secret, and of how in time she came to understand her with an empathetic eye in spite of her possession.
