Six Degrees Music & Sound is an award-winning Calgary based audio house dedicated to producing high-quality music and sound for commercials, television and film. We are looking to fill a position for a full-time audio engineer for commercial recording projects and post-production work. Qualities The ideal candidate must have at least three years of experience at a reputable sound house where they were involved and accountable to all stages of audio post-production including final mixes. The candidate must have exceptionally strong organizational skills, and a true passion and aptitude for all aspects of audio engineering from sound design, music mixing, voice-over recording, dialogue sweetening and mixing. The role requires a career-minded individual, committed to the highest standards, with the ambition and independence to grow the business. The role requires a team player with excellent communication skills, and the ability to work autonomously. The candidate will be involved in sessions with a wide variety of clients, producers, directors and copywriters, and therefore must enjoy working in a team atmosphere with numerous interaction opportunities. Six Degrees has a range of work from episodic, to promotional, television and web-based content—we are looking for an individual who is adaptive, can prioritize workflow and enjoys working in a number of mediums. Candidate must be willing to work occasional evenings/weekends. This role will often surpass the commitment of a nine-to-five job. Some of the responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: Voice-over recording including digital patch (Source connect) sessions and voice over auditions. Sound Design—utilizing library effects (Soundminer), Foley and SFX recordings to create vivid soundscapes for commercial and long play episodic projects. Dialogue cuts, vocal, and live instrumentation recording. Mixing, mastering, and outputs for commercial broadcast, web and long play deliverables requirements. Archiving and restoring sessions and a solid understanding of FTP/network protocols. Skills Must have three to five years experience on Pro-Tools HD. Must have experience in 5.1 mixing and outputs. Experience with an array of plug-ins, outboard gear, microphones, patch bays, and various monitoring options. Source connect experience. Ability to pay strong attention to detail. Ability to deal with clients in a professional and flexible manner. Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Familiarity with advertising and the TV/film industry. Ability to collaborate with others and strong communication skills.
