The City of Calgary, Public Art, Mount Pleasant Fire Station #7

Canadian artist Jennifer Stead has been chosen by a public art selection panel to create a public art project for the Mount Pleasant Fire Station #7 that will serve the communities of Bridgeland/Riverside, Cambrian Heights, Captial Hill, Crescent Heights, Collingwood, Greenview, Highland Park, Highwood, Hillhurst, McCall, Mount Pleasant, North Haven, Renfrew, Rosedale, Rosemont, Skyline West, Sunnyside, Thorncliffe, Tuxedo Park, Queens Park Village, and Winston Heights as well as the Greenview Industrial Park.

While developing art for the fire station, Stead will focus on where culture and nature meet, looking for inspiration from the local environment, history, architecture, private gardens and public spaces, personal stories and cultural traditions.

You are invited to share and exchange stories about the Mount Pleasant community with the artist, creating vibrant resources to meaningfully inform the artist as the project moves forward. Explore and celebrate the community through conversation, telling and recording your stories, and creating images with linoleum prints. Build a vibrant narrative of your community that expresses the values and aspirations of the people who have shaped it and will continue to shape it.
