Starting on July 1, 2019, nominations will be accepted for the 2019/20 Contemporary Arts Society board of directors.

The election of the board takes place during the annual general meeting on August 26, 2019. More information about the nomination process, candidate qualifications, and roles and responsibilities can be found below.

The governance, HR, and nominating committee appreciates your participation in nominating energetic individuals who are qualified to assume a leadership role on the board of directors of Contemporary Calgary.

Nomination Process

Members of Contemporary Calgary may nominate any eligible candidate they deem appropriate to serve on the Board. Please submit written nominations by email to nominations@contemporarycalgary.com.

Nominations must be received by July 29, 2019, at 9:00am.

We request a brief biography and CV to be included with the nomination.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, candidates must be:

We seek directors who reflect the diversity of Calgary, who are passionate about the arts, and who have leadership experience in the following areas: finance, fundraising, governance and human resources, law, and major project construction.

Ideal candidates will share a passion to achieve Contemporary Calgary’s vision, be able to meet the time commitments of serving as a board member, provide stewardship of the organization and contribute to community engagement and fundraising.

Roles and Responsibilities

Twelve directors will be elected to a two-year term on August 26, 2019, joining seven directors currently midway through their term.

The elected board determines who will serve as officers of the board and who will serve on board committees, which include: building, finance and audit, fundraising, and governance, HR and nominating.

Directors are expected to attend 10 board meetings per year and must serve on at least one committee of the board.
