Cowtown Opera is a signature artistic company in Calgary, surprising audiences with cheeky, English-language interpretations of operatic classics, remarkable vocal calibre, and daring new projects. At Cowtown, we support the development of emerging local talent and explore the intersection of classical and popular culture with innovative and contemporary performances.

We know that the smooth, friendly and streamlined process of ticket purchase/use, raffle participation and concession patronage is essential in the framework of the enjoyment of a production.

We are looking for an organized, level-headed, friendly individual to manage the front of house activities at all mainstage productions for Cowtown Opera.

Duties:

  • Communicates with the Executive Director to acquire accurate pre-event ticket information.
  • Manages the front of house and manages show-specific volunteers in their given FOH jobs.
  • Acts as the liaison with the venue representative during events.
  • Sets up the FOH area prior to each show.
  • Sets-up concession area prior to each show.
  • Oversees the check-in of patrons.
  • Handles any problems that may arise.
  • Ensures that any cash is securely stored.
  • Balances cash transactions at the end of each event (raffle, concession, tickets, etc.).
  • Liaises with Production Manager regarding access to the performance area.
  • Completes a front of house report after each event.

  • Has a passion for the performing arts.

The Front of House Manager will report directly to the Executive Director.

This engagement shall commence effective September 2018 and shall continue in full force until June 30, 2019. The agreement may be extended thereafter by mutual agreement.
