Volunteer Opportunities May 19, 2020 Board of Directors Create Kids Fest is recruiting board volunteers responsible for the governance of the organization, planning and executing activities throughout the year, strategic planning, financial oversight, and policy development. About Create Kids Fest Create Kids Fest hosted its inaugural festival in 2019, presenting over 20 artists and art organizations, across two venues to the Calgary community. Family-friendly, fuss-friendly, accessible, and multi-generational, the initial success of the festival sparked the creation of a non-profit society governed by a volunteer board to expand our reach into the Calgary community. Create Values To create, develop and implement arts festivals for kids and families in Calgary. To ensure that the festivals and programs put on by Create allow children to experience the arts in a comfortable environment. Strive to provide art experiences that are accessible for all children in Calgary. To provide educational experiences for younger generations to learn about event production and art creation to develop a life-long appreciation of the arts. Develop opportunities for intergenerational community building, cultural awareness and emotional intelligence through art experiences. Open Board Positions Vice-Chair Treasurer Director of Membership Vice-Chair The vice-chair is responsible for carrying out the mission and objectives of the board. They ensure that the board is functions and effective in governing the association. All applicants for the vice-bhair position must have at least two years of experience on a past board and be willing to spend one year with Create Kids Fest as a committee member. Treasurer The treasurer is responsible for preparing all required financial statements, managing all bank accounts, paying expenses, ensuring financial statements are audited, and providing the board with financial management advice. Applicants must have previous financial or accounting experience. Director of Membership This position is responsible for managing and growing Create Kids Fest’s membership, engaging members with updates and opportunities, and administration of all records of members. Applicants should have strong communication and writing skills, be an outgoing and personable person and have knowledge of newsletter tools. Create Kids Fest is an exciting and new organization with a unique approach to intergenerational programming.
