Scott Cressman directs the Alberta University of the Arts’ School of Communication Design and has over 26 years of experience in Canada’s design, marketing, communications and digital industries. Leading the school and teaching enables Scott to listen to, connect with and mentor new generations of communication designers as we shift from the digital age to the age of experience and the important societal challenges ahead.

His professional practice includes developing an integrated media strategy with the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, strategic content planning with the United Way and continuing as Director of Integrated Strategy for V Strategies. Scott’s work with V includes the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Recovery College, Calgary Homeless Foundation, and Fit for Duty, a new workplace safety initiative focused on substance abuse.

Scott’s previous roles include Creative Director at the University of Calgary, National Director of Digital at National Public Relations, and Creative Director at Getty Images and Adobe.

He is a founding partner of the Creative Skills Training Council, Creative Leadership Forum, Management Innovation Index, and The Innovation Ecology.

Scott’s research pursues storytelling in business and the evolution of human communication. He has developed the 100 Stories Process working with WestJet, Bell Media, MNP, Calgary Economic Development, Crescent Point Energy, Stuart Olson, and other organizations to understand how story, narrative and experience design can positively impact, motivate, shift behaviours and change attitudes inside and outside of the organization.
