cSPACE Projects is a social-purpose organization, established to develop a portfolio of facilities to support artists, creative nonprofits and entrepreneurs in Calgary. cSPACE King Edward is our flagship project, a multi-disciplinary arts and community hub in the community of South Calgary.

The facility is home to 16 small to medium-sized non-profit organizations active in the arts and community sectors as tenants, each with their own staff, members, audiences and constituents. 18 artists also reside as tenants within the facility creating in disciplines such as photography, filmmaking, illustration/graphic design, painting, print-making, jewellery, mixed-media, fashion, costume-making, and sculpture. A co-working space provides short-term flexible space for members who use shared desks on a daily and weekly basis.

In addition to supporting these tenant uses, cSPACE King Edward includes three, highly adaptable event, performance, rehearsal, and meeting spaces. A Studio Theatre supports bookings for theatre, music, cinema and dance presentation or rehearsal. Public art through the facility and common areas throughout the facility provide places for events and artistic installations to occur while supporting a place for the community to gather.

Position Summary

cSPACE Projects is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and sales oriented professional with a passion for community, to join our team in supporting the creative potential of our city. As a part-time event venue coordinator, you will support artists, creative non-profits and corporate clients to deliver memorable event experiences at cSPACE King Edward. Complete with an adaptable theatre and meeting spaces, the arts hub supports a multidisciplinary and diverse expression of artistic, community and corporate events.

The event venue coordinator is responsible for coordination, administration and staffing of venue events as well as nurturing partnerships and special initiatives. The event venue coordinator markets, secures and processes bookings and ensures accurate financial reconciliation of all events, and collaborates with staff on detailed planning to ensure the success of each booking from start to finish. Direct reports include other part-time venue support staff.

The event venue coordinator will represent cSPACE in a positive and professional manner with the building’s artists, community members and external clients, delivering a high level of positive support and service in keeping with the goals at cSPACE King Edward.

Remuneration

This is a permanent, part-time role of 24 to 30 hour a week with expected potential to grow within the year. Total compensation is commensurate with experience, including benefits and professional development opportunities.

Start Date: May 2019, or as negotiated.
