Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival

It’s an online queer film festival—and artists, we need you!

Have you heard the news? The Fairy Tales Queer Film Festival is going digital! That’s right, one of Canada’s largest and longest-running 2SLGBTQ+ festivals can’t be stopped—not even by a global pandemic! So we’re heading online as we come together by staying apart.

As part of our special 2020 at your home edition, we want to showcase the amazing work of our local queer artists! Whether you’re a filmmaker, a drag performer, musician, performance artist, author, illustrator or anything else… we want to hear from you!

We will be selecting 15 artists to deliver a short pre-filmed piece between two and 10 minutes in length. These pieces will screen before each film shown over the 10 days of Fairy Tales Film Fest!

Each artist selected for a screening will receive a $200 honorarium.

So pitch us your ideas! Send us a completed piece (new or pre-existing), or tell us what you would create if selected. We don’t discriminate, we do every genre! Short films, monologues, animations, tutorials, stand-up comedy, a poetry reading, a live musical performance or a music video, a tour of your home, an artist talk… all ideas are welcome! Just make sure you are following social distancing guidelines in whatever you create!

Submissions are open to all self-identified queer artists (amateur, emerging, or professional) living on Treaty 7. Selected artists will be asked to provide an official artist photo and a short bio.

The deadline to apply is May 1, 2020, and all final pieces will need to be submitted to Fairy Tales on or before May 10, 2020.
