Call for Board Members

The listing period for this opportunity has expired.

Femme Wave is looking for dedicated volunteer board members to contribute to the continued success of the organization.

Femme Wave is an intersectional feminist organization and those on the board should identify as such. While all those interested are encouraged to apply, the board will prioritize applicants who can offer expertise in legal, finances, and board governance and compliance.

People with multiple marginalized identities are strongly encouraged to get involved with Femme Wave, including queer, trans, and disabled people of colour and size.

The Femme Wave board of directors is a governance and policy board.  Board meetings are typically held once per month. As stewards for the organization, directors provide strategic direction to the executive director, artistic director, and the director of resources. Directors additionally regularly review the organization’s financial statements and approve the annual budget. Directors are part of the public face of the organization and occasionally represent Femme Wave at events year-round, beyond our annual Femme Wave Festival. Directors hold two-year terms, with the option to seek re-election for up to five consecutive terms.

Expectations of all Board Members:

  • Attend all regularly scheduled board meetings.
  • Advise the overall tone and integrity of Femme Wave.
  • Read any and all material pertaining to board meetings.
  • Participate as a member on either the human resources committee or the governance committee.
  • Contribute to annual strategic planning processes.
  • Consider partnerships, sponsors in your own networks for the benefit of Femme Wave.
  • Attend and manage fundraising and festival events.
