Festival & Events Survey

The City of Calgary has an online survey open and we are asking for your input to develop a new festival and event strategy for Calgary. We want to hear from you. We want to know what makes you attend and enjoy festivals and events, what barriers to attending exist, where are the best places in Calgary are to hold events, and more.

We are developing a strategy to maximize the benefits of hosting festivals and events in Calgary. This strategy is being developed to ensure that festivals and events reinforce and celebrate the identity and culture of Calgary and have a greater impact on Calgary’s economy and social prosperity. The strategy is meant to be completed with plans for implementation when the pandemic eases. It isn’t meant to be a strategy for dealing with festivals and events during the pandemic, but will help support the industry as we head into recovery.

In addition to our online public survey, we will be meeting with leaders and partners in Calgary’s festivals and events industry. The feedback we receive will be used to develop the very first festival and event strategy for Calgary.

Work on this new strategy is a result of City Council asking administration to develop a strategy for festivals and events in Calgary in 2019.

The survey includes eight questions and should take about five minutes to complete. After the survey closes and all input is reviewed, a What We Heard Report will be shared. We hope you will take the time to share your thoughts about festivals and events in Calgary.

The survey closes on May 2, 2021. In addition to completing the survey yourself, please help us share it. We hope a range of citizens will participate so that Calgary’s festival and event strategy will reflect many voices and ideas.
