Gallery Assistant

VIVIANEART is seeking a gallery assistant to join our team. This is a part-time, contract position with an expected 15-20 hours per week. Start date is ideally 16 August 2023.

Salary Level: $20/hour

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome visitors to the gallery.
  • Initiate discussions about the exhibition on view.
  • Provide assistance to the gallery founder/owner in the administration and operations of the gallery.
  • Open and close the gallery on time.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Enrolled in or completed a post-secondary program in art history, visual and/or media arts, museum studies or a related field.
  • Positive and high energy.
  • Demonstrates a solid knowledge of and keen interest in contemporary art.
  • Comfortable interacting with members of the public.
  • Responsible, hard working, enthusiastic and dynamic.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
