General Manager Position

In consultation with the artistic director, managing director, committees, and volunteers, the general manager will manage the operations of the Calgary Boys’ Choir Society.

Job Description

Parent/Guardian Support:

  • Be the central point of contact for parents (attend rehearsals, answer choir calls and emails).
  • Provide consistent communications to the choir (notices, updates, scheduling).
  • Occasional attendance at satellite choirs.

Concert Coordinating:

  • Coordinate volunteers (front-of-house, choir support etc.).
  • Assist with concert programs.
  • Support artistic staff with logistics (uniforms, set up etc.).

Volunteer Management:

  • Maintain volunteer database and volunteer credit records for families.
  • Organize bingo volunteers.
  • Arrange parent support for rehearsals, concerts, camps, and workshops.

Other Administrative Duties:

  • Occasional assistance with grant applications.
  • Processing registration packages (collecting personal information, tracking of waivers etc.).
  • Attend board meetings to report on choir activities.
  • Assist with fundraising initiatives and events.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for choral music.
  • Understanding of non-profit artistic organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to both lead and work with others.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, email).
  • Highly organized but flexible.
  • Basic bookkeeping skills.
  • Experience in writing grant applications.
  • Experience in promotion and publicity.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Access to home office space and basic computer equipment.
  • Access to a personal vehicle.

Wage: Five to eight hours per week, $20 per hour
