Casino nights are biannual fundraisers that happen across the province. Non-profits recruit a crack team of volunteers to cover easy positions at a casino in their city—in return for a percentage of the earnings. Casino funds represent between 10% and 15% of Ghost River Theatre’s annual operating budget. Did we mention casino nights are also a freakin’ blast?! Sure, there’s no drinking or gambling allowed, but you’ll be working with artists and theatre-lovers—and that crew knows how to have a good time… Location: Cowboys Casino (421 12th Ave. SE) Date: March 16 & 17, 2018 Roles: Cashiers: Cash-out players by trading their chips for sweet, sweet dollar bills. Counting skills required, must not be known associates of Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Elliott Gould, Carl Reiner, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac, Eddie Jemison, Scott Caan, or Shaobo Qin. Chip Runners: Bring chips to game tables. Take chips away from game tables. Best suited to those not bothered by an existential sense of futility. Count Room: Made up of sorter, recorder, counter, and amalgamator positions. Will be an essential member of a robot superhero team. Will be working with actual robots (aka counting machines and computers). Ability to transform into a vehicle not essential, but considered an asset. On-Call: May or may not be needed.
