National Devised Theatre Intensive

The date for this opportunity has passed.

You know the feeling when you’re waiting in line, trying to get into the coolest party ever? You can feel the music pulsing through the walls. See the bodies dancing through steamed-up windows. Your friends are all messaging you, having the night of their lives. But no one’s leaving, and it doesn’t look like you’re getting in. FOMO but also FML. You can’t miss this.

Time to crash the party.

Ghost River Theatre has snuck a few extra spots into this year’s National Devised Theatre Intensive. That’s right. We know a guy. We can get you in.

This party only happens once every two years. And there’s a reason for that.

The Devised Theatre Intensive is a three-week, comprehensive, advanced program of study designed for established and emerging artists and educators from across the country.

Open to adventurous artists in all media (designers, dramaturgs, performers, writers, dancers, visual artists, musicians, digital artists), the intensive explores the complexities and potentials of a complete devised production process: from initial idea to public presentation through three weeks of intensive hands-on-creation.

The intensive is led by Ghost River Theatre Artistic Director, Eric Rose, and long-time collaborator, Jason Patrick Rothery. Eric is known for his larger than life work on Giant, The Last Voyage Of Donald Crowhurst, and Highest Step In The World. Jason is a playwright and former member of the Soulpepper Academy. His most recent work with GRT was on the immersive Mindbender: The Intuition Project.

  • Dramaturgy of devised work through a practical creation process.
  • Audience engagement theory and techniques.
