GlobalFest Human Rights Forum
The Human Rights Forum has been offered since 2007 as part of GlobalFest’s programming to promote diversity, cross cultural respect, and equality in our community. Our annual human rights forum topics are structured around the UNESCO’s Coalition of Municipalities against racism and discrimination.
Recognized as an excellent platform for sharing experiences, knowledge, and practical solutions necessary to address issues of racism and discrimination, the Human Rights Forum encourages systemic change across the Canadian community in a positive and safe environment.
Continue the Dialogue
GlobalFest’s 2021 commitment is to Continue the Dialogue. We are moving from a single week-long series, to a more robust offering with additional stand-alone community forums to explore the findings of the main event. Our intent is to expand upon meaningful conversations and encourage action.
GlobalFest will reach further into Calgary’s communities, to build more engaged partners and cause action and resolution. The expanded program includes participants sharing a meal and delving into the core topics, facilitated by local and national leaders, educators and advocates. Beginning with our OneWorld ethno-cultural associations and community partners such as Calgary Catholic Immigration Services and the Center for Newcomers, we are also developing relationships with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (Winnipeg) and the Institute for Canadian Citizenship (Toronto).

Human Rights, Disabled Rights, Accessibility, & Accessible Events: How to plan, prepare, and deliver inclusive online and hybrid programs
What is digital accessibility?
How can everyone contribute and understand the tenants of digital accessibility?
What you need to know from planning, budgets, contracts, vendors, content, marketing, presentations, and surveys to know to deliver an inclusive event for all people.
In this 1.5 hour program you’ll come away with:
- An understanding of the barriers disabled people face in the digital world and how to remove them.
- What you can do to ensure you and your organization move forward towards optimization of digital accessibility.
- Where and when in event planning a team needs to consider, budget, and plan for accessibility.
- What accessible and inclusive marketing and communications includes.
- How to verify vendors and products’ accessibility.
- Resources for accessibility.
- Timeline you can adapt for your event planning.
We will have time for questions along the way.
Guest Speaker, Samantha Evans, CAE, MBA
Certification Manager, International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), a division of G3ict
Samantha (Sam) Evans, CAE, MBA, is the Certification Manager at the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), a division of G3ict, where she works with accessibility subject matter experts and professionals around the world to maintain, build and deliver accessibility certification programs. Working within the international standards for certification and credentialing.
Sam facilitates the work of IAAP and the accessibility community to establish benchmarks of knowledge, skills, and concepts for accessibility professionals. Sam is also an active accessibility and inclusion advocate, active in the association management and credentialing professions.
Sam holds an MBA in International Business from Kennesaw State University.
Sam is a long time member of Georgia Society of Association Executives (GSAE) and has previously held roles on the GSAE Foundation, SIGs, and is currently serving on the ASAE CAE Standard Setting Committee & Gold Circle Awards Committee, and serving on the Institute of Credentialing Excellence DEI Task Force.
