Grant Writing Intensive
Want to write a grant for an art project but don’t know where to start? Have trouble securing project funding? Ghost River Theatre is here to help!
We are hosting a Grant Writing Intensive in the spring of 2023. Led by writer, grant expert and former artistic director of Ghost River Theatre Jason Rothery, this seven-week course will take you step-by-step through the process of conceiving, writing, developing and submitting an individual project grant.
This weekly intensive will guide participants through preparing either the Concept to Realization or Research & Creation grant for individuals and collectives through the Canada Council for the Arts, leading up to the spring deadline for the Explore and Create a program. We want to equip and empower artists with the knowledge and tools needed to have the best chance possible to secure funding.
Topics Covered will Include:
- Introduction to Canada Council grant requirements
- Grant structure and narrative
- Writing and developing a project plan
- Budgets and support material
- Navigating the online portal system
Intensive Process
Near the end of the process, a mock jury composed of professional artistic peers will provide feedback on participants’ applications. After the course, workshop participants will submit their applications to the Canada Council for the Arts.
We’ll examine how to adapt and submit applications to provincial and municipal funding bodies such as the Alberta Foundation for the Arts and Calgary Arts Development Association with a finished grant.
Dates and Times: Tuesdays: 6 – 9pm MT, February 21 – April 4 2023.
Location: This intensive will be taking place online via Zoom.
Pricing: Early Bird Discount (cut-off is January 7, 2023) $225+GST. Regular $250+GST.
Registration for this Intensive is limited to eight spots, given on a first come, first served basis. Last year’s Intensive sold out. We recommend registering as early as possible.
