IFFA 2020 Short Film Competition

Edmonton Movie Club (EMC) is proud to announce the IFFA short film contest to be held in conjunction with the sixth annual India Film Festival of Alberta. The EMC has always worked to support Canadian independent filmmakers. This year, we are introducing a short film contest. Canadian filmmakers of all backgrounds and ethnicities are eligible.

Entries will be accepted for the following two categories:

  • Short film, not more 20 minutes in length, including credits
  • Mobile short films, not more five minutes in length, including credits

Awards & Prizes

  • Short Film Awards
    • Best Film: $500
    • 2nd Best Film: $250
    • Best Director: $250
    • Best Cinematographer: $250
  • Mobile Short Films
    • Best Film: $250

Winners will also get free entry into IFFA masterclass on cinematography and direction.

Rules & Terms

  • Short Film Contest
    • Entry Fee: Regular – $15, Student – $10
    • Format: MP4, MOV
    • Resolution: HD

(No nudity, extreme violence or offensive language allowed)

  • Mobile Short Film Contest
    • Entry Fee: None
    • Format: MP4, MOV
    • Resolution: HD
    • Equipment: Minimum 90% of the total runtime should have the footage shot using a smart phone
