IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists 2019

Call for Volunteers

The date for this volunteer opportunity has passed.

The IGNITE! Festival of Emerging Artists is a festival dedicated to supporting, mentoring, and presenting early career artists of all disciplines. IGNITE! allows artists to embrace risk in a supportive environment while providing resources, a bridge to the professional arts community, and meaningful opportunities for collaboration and community building with their peers.

Our volunteers are the backbone of our operation—they help us make the magic happen. It is a great opportunity to meet and support emerging artists in the city and be the first to see cutting-edge and bold creations—because as a volunteer, you get to see a show for free!

The IGNITE! Festival does not tolerate harassment, bullying, or discrimination—whether in project rehearsal spaces or at festival events. All artists and staff are expected to uphold the values and behaviours of safe arts and workspaces.

Our festival takes place on Treaty 7 territory, home of the Blackfoot Confederacy, the Tsuut’ina First Nation, the Stoney Nakoda, and the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. What we now call the City of Calgary was originally called Moh’kins’tsis and was marked by the meeting place of the Bow River and the Elbow River.

The IGNITE! Festival pays honour to this land and its First Peoples by following the teachings of its waters. We endeavor to provide a place for emerging artists to meet and come together—where like the two rivers, artists may surge forward in their artistic calling through the power of their collective and collaborative force.
