Call for Applications
Immigrant Arts Mentorship Program (IAMP) is a program where newcomer professional artists, arts administrators and culture workers can connect, find resources, learn, and establish their practice in Canada through one-on-one mentorship from established Canadian arts professionals.
It provides access to the right and reliable information, intentional networking opportunities, unique sector knowledge and thorough guidance for proper career establishment in their new home.
Newcomer and immigrant arts professionals may have many challenges when establishing their careers and looking for professional opportunities in the arts field and IAMP aims to bridge this gap through focused professional development sessions and paid mentorship.
Who will Bennefit
Professional artists, arts administrators, and culture workers who are newcomers—immigrants/refugees who have lived in Canada for less than seven years in total.
Description
IAMP gives an excellent opportunity for mentees to attain one-on-one mentoring from the professionals in their respective fields of arts practice. It also provides group professional development sessions to foster unity, build networking skills, community engagement, and professional working relationships. It comes with an opportunity to learn from other mentors and ask relevant questions and understand the expectations of the goal of the program.
At the end of the program, the mentees will have a chance to share what they have learnt and their growth.
Participants will receive a certificate that signifies a commitment to personal excellence and professional development. On a macro scale, this program aims to increase exposure for newcomers in the arts and community-oriented sector by supporting them with related information, networking opportunities, career guidance, motivation, and one-on-one mentoring by established arts professionals.
Eligibility
- Must be 18+ years of age.
- Must have less than seven years of total stay in Canada while applying.
- Must not be a student currently pursuing a degree program in any institution in Canada.
- Must be an experienced artist or arts administrator or culture worker from their home country.
- Professional arts degree is not a requirement.
- Must be an ICAI member.

Application & Selection Process
- There is a scheduled information session on Friday, March 18, 2022, 5:00 to 6:30pm.
- IAMP application will start on Monday, March 7, 2022 and the deadline to apply is Thursday, March 31, 2022.
- All applications will be reviewed by a jury panel.
- Interviews will be done mid-May, 2022.
- Selected mentees will be informed by the end of May for the June to December 2022 cohort.
