Farm Studio International Artist Residency’s aim is to provide a rural, community-based open platform where creativity can unfold. Residents stay and create in a unique atmosphere and an entirely new environment where they can develop their artwork free from accustomed distractions.

Relationships form between the artists coming from different geographical locations and varied social, religious and cultural backgrounds. Here, collaborations and experimentation are encouraged. Many exciting exchanges and dialogues among artists take place. Farm Studio also promotes and celebrates the local community’s artistic and cultural identity while also introducing art and culture of others (Indian and International guests) back to the community. This intercultural exchange broadens everyone’s experiences and fosters art appreciation.

Farm Studio International Artist Residency hosts artists from September to March each year, with accommodations available for up to six to 12 residents at one time.

Farm Studio hosts an international artist residency that accepts applicants from India and from all over the world. Artists of all disciplines creating in any media are welcome to apply: dance, theatre, music, sound, performance art, writing, painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, culinary, photography, video/film, animation, architecture, sculpture (any material), ceramics, mixed-media / multi-media, interdisciplinary, installation, and other new/alternative media. Researchers, curators, and art critics are also welcome to apply. Open to emerging and established artists.

Farm Studio will provide:

Farm Studio residency provides three types of working spaces where artists can explore their art and ideas in the rural Rajasthani environment, at the Farm Studio indoor studio, the outdoor and farm environment, and in Andore Village.

Accommodation Consists of private tents (with bed and bedding), meals, open landscape, electricity, water.

Application Criteria

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, artists will be selected subject to motivation, work sample and availability.

If accepted applicants will be notified by email. A non-refundable deposit of $150 USD will be required to hold the applicant’s spot. An official invitation letter can be sent upon request of the applicant.

Artist responsible for:

  • $650 USD fee
  • Travel costs
  • Art materials
  • Travel insurance

Please submit the following with your application:

  • Completed residency application form.
  • Six images/three to five video links with a clear description of your works.
  • Project proposal (250 word max).
  • What is motivating you to come to Rajasthan, India? (150 word max)
  • Current resume or curriculum vitae.
  • Artist statement (50 word max).
  • Copy of passport.

The deadline for applications is February 20, 2020. Residencies will take place October, November, December 2020 and January, February 2021.
