Dive into the world of clown with Jacqueline Russell.

Clown offers artists of all backgrounds a unique way to access the imagination. During the workshop participants will explore exercises designed to cultivate the freedom to physicalize, breathe and respond with honesty.

Designed for those with little or no previous experience with clown, this workshop is a safe and fun way to get a taste of some of the fundamentals of clown training. Individual and group activities will give participants the chance to practice listening, following impulses and developing a sense of play.

It is not necessary to be a performer to take this course. People from all walks of life are welcome.

Bio: Jacqueline is a settler of Scottish/English ancestry who lives on Treaty 7 territory (Calgary). She is a director, performer, creator and clown. With her co-conspirator Jed Tomlinson she has created and toured two full-length clown shows, The Sama Kutra and Hushabye, to festivals across the country. She was the Artistic Producer of Urban Curvz Theatre from 2011-2015, the 2013-14 RBC Emerging Director at Lunchbox Theatre and the Artistic Producer for Evergreen Theatre from 2008-2013.

A graduate of the BFA Acting Program at the University of Alberta, she is currently the Community Programs Director for Inside Out Theatre. In the fall of 2018 Jacqueline will begin a Masters in Theatre Studies at the University of Calgary specializing in Pochinko Clown.

Participants should bring with them: Comfy clothes to move in, clean indoor shoes, lunch, water bottle, notebook, and pen.
