Intro to Photo Etching

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

Greening Intaglio – Photo Etching

Instructor: Eveline Kolijn
Date: November 17 & 24, 2019, 10:00 – 3:00pm (each day)

In this course, you will learn a new, green way to create and print a photograph or digital image with incredible detail. This will be done with photopolymer plates, that can be simply developed with water after they have been exposed. The plate is printed on a traditional etching press, which gives it the look and detail of a photogravure.

The course will cover the step by step process of preparing your image in Photoshop and printing the transparency for exposure on AP’s equipment. Participants will learn how to expose and develop the plates without any use of chemicals and print it without the use of solvents or toxic materials.

The course is open to all levels of experience. More advanced printmakers can experiment with multi-plate printing or combining a photographic plate with existing traditionally etched plate.

All materials are provided, including an 8 x 10″ photopolymer solar plate (these can also be purchased from A/P for your future projects)

The class also includes one additional studio rental day to print!

Class Size: Four
Cost: A/P members $275, non-members $300
