Educational Opportunities October 12, 2021 Introduction to Commercial Auditions — Self Tapes Location: Online event Date: Thursday, October 28, 2021 Time: 6:30 – 9:00pm MT Price: $117.71 This introductory class is aimed at non union actors who are trying to turn in their best commercial auditions. The quality of your self tape can determine whether a director watches your performance or skips over it as they look at someone else. We will cover technical elements like audio, lighting, and camera set up as well as the more creative elements such as wardrobe and improvisation that can make a huge difference for your intended audience. Class will begin with a ZOOM lecture and Q&A, then an assigned commercial audition to be self taped by participants and will finish with a follow up ZOOM call in a small group with feedback from instructors. Approx 4+ hours of instruction. Instructors Sue Bristow has been working in the film industry in Alberta for over 20 years in a variety of roles. As a Casting Director, Sue has focused on independent films, local televisions series and commercials – her clients have included AT&T, Ford, West Jet, Travel Alberta and McDonalds, to name a few. Joel McNichol is a filmmaker and actor who has been featured at TIFF, Sundance, the Cannes film festival and has performed with the likes of Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Gosling. Joel now balances his time volunteering in various capacities for community social service organizations and working behind and in front of the camera on a variety of projects.
