Land Acknowledgement Workshop

Jane's Walk

The date for this educational opportunity has passed.

Stemming from stories of the land that span generations, land acknowledgement is a traditional custom of Indigenous peoples when welcoming outsiders onto their lands and into their homes. More and more people are incorporating land acknowledgement into their own practices, as an act of Reconciliation that honours the authentic history of Turtle Island and the original people of this territory.

In this workshop, Jane’s Walk leaders are invited to talk with Tim Fox, Calgary Foundation’s Director of Indigenous Relations, about the significance of land acknowledgement for designing and leading your Jane’s Walk, and for your own reconciliation journey.

Pre-registration is required and spots are limited, please register by Friday, January 18, 2018, to hold your spot.

Dates:

  • Wednesday, January 23, 2019, 9:15 – 11:45am (light refreshments included)
  • Saturday, February 9, 2019, 1:00 – 4:30pm (light refreshments included)
