Archived August 11, 2020 K-12 Tutors in Reading, Writing, and Social Studies The listing period for this opportunity has passed. Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society (AWCS) is currently seeking tutors to work online or in-person in our classroom (with safety measures put into place) to teach writing in both English and social studies including, but not limited to, reports, journaling, essays, sentence structure, basic grammar and composition, literary devices, and reading comprehension. Potential candidates must have: Expertise in English (honors in high school, or university education pertaining to writing, or be a published author). Teaching experience with children. The ability to make education fun. The ability to craft a program based on the needs of the client and the client’s guardians. Great communication skills. A police record not less than three years old (or the willingness to get one). A general understanding of what the current curriculum requires. Successful candidates will be willing to work with youth from grades one to twelve. Our immediate need is for elementary and junior high grades (Grade 3-9) but all applicants will be considered.
