Please note that ads for jobs outside of Calgary and area may not be posted. Educational Opportunities August 24, 2022 Kids Art Adventures Ages 8-14 Kids art adventures, 10 weeks of Saturdays. Start date is September 10, 2022. (September, October, November) Times: 12:00 – 2:30pm All children’s art classes will include all materials and equipment needed for their Motive art class experience. In each class we will delve into a quick art history lesson about the artist, style and/or technique whose style we will study and learn about. Then we will begin our artwork, and the teacher will guide and assist the kids through the steps to create an artwork in the style we have studied. Every child will take home a finished piece (or as close as possible depending on their level) after each class. Please bring a water bottle. Ages: 8 – 14 Cost: $50 per child drop in per class or $435 for all sessions Paul Klee Oil Pastels The student will learn about oil pastels, about geometrical shapes, and they will create a piece of art where they will use the material we learned about in a fun and interesting technique. Georges Seurat Pointillism With a short history lesson and a couple of practice sheets, the kids will delve into pointillism and what is a relaxing technique with which you can create some amazing artwork. Kids will create a 10×10” painting with what they learned with practice. Norval Morisseau X-ray Art Morisseau is a well-known Canadian Indigenous artist whose art not only uses rich colourful images but also a style which shows emotion and what is inside each subject. The children will create a piece of artwork in this style with acrylic paints on canvas. Kandinsky Circles Studies Students will learn about the significance of his circle series, and the cosmos. With light music in the background, we will create our own circle studies using several different art materials similar to the way Kandinsky created when he did his artwork. Ringgold Quilting Art An African-American multi-disciplinary artist whose quilt work is known across the USA. We will create some Ringgold style artwork with patterned paper and our drawing skills. Mondrian Geometric Art Piet Mondrian is one of the most successful artists of the 20th century — his artwork influenced architecture and continues to be well received. kids will create Mondrian inspired art while learning more about geometry and the beauty of simplicity.
