New Forum is a new literary magazine that publishes fiction, non-fiction, poetry, artwork and photography from writers and artists living in Alberta. New Forum is a revival of Forum magazine, a grassroots feminist magazine published from 1988 to 2002 by the Calgary Women’s Writing Project. Our submissions deadline for Volume 2 + flash fiction contest closes January 15, 2020, at midnight. All details can be found by visiting newforummagazine.com. New Forum’s general submission guidelines: We particularly encourage submissions from underrepresented voices in Canadian literature. Work is accepted up until midnight on January 15, 2020. All contributors are paid $50 upon publication. Poetry: You may submit a maximum of five poems. Fiction and Non-Fiction: Maximum 2,500 words per submission (if your work is a bit longer than 2,500 words, we will consider it, but it may be cut down due to space restrictions). Visual Art: Up to five low-resolution samples; if accepted for publication, we will require high-resolution images via Dropbox or another file hosting service. We accept submissions in colour for cover consideration, but images inside the magazine are printed in black and white. Please be sure to send us work that has not been previously published in print or on-line. Please double-space and include a page number on each page. Please include your first and last name in the file. Include a cover letter with a brief bio. Let us know in your cover letter if you have submitted your work to other publications, and please let us know immediately if your work is accepted in another publication. If you have submitted more than one piece and still want us to consider the rest of your submission for publication, please send us a new submission without the accepted work. We do not charge for submissions except for our flash fiction contest. Submit by email to firstname.lastname@example.org Contributors must be living in the province of Alberta.
