Colour Mixing for Every Medium

With Sharon Lynn Williams

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

Learn how to reliably and repeatedly mix the colours you need for your painting, using only six olours (plus black and white in opaque media). The method is called a double primary mixing system, and it works like magic!

We will be using watercolour for this course due to its ease of use, easy rinsing of brushes, and the fact that it doesn’t dry out. The colours and method used, however, apply to all wet media.

You will learn the three critical components of colour and how to assess what colours to combine to create that colour, without leaving it to chance. You will make some ‘colour runs’ and your very own colour wheel. You will then reproduce part of a full-colour photo, putting all that new knowledge into practice.

The photo pictured with this listing has the centre removed and painted in—can you tell the difference? At the end of the day, you can head home feeling confident of your ability to mix any colour you might need in your art practice. This class is for painters of all levels of experience and in all media. Handouts will be provided.
