Momentum is an award winning and nationally recognized community economic development organization utilizing innovative approaches to poverty reduction. We use financial literacy, skills training, and small business development as tools to empower people as they exit poverty.

What you’ll be doing

Our resource development team is poised for growth. Our organizational strategic map sets our sights on new opportunities to meet the future and take our work to scale. The resource development team will play an important role in securing the revenue to make these plans possible.

As the donor engagement coordinator, you will be an integral member of the resource development team. You are a multi-talented fundraising professional, with the ability to tell our Momentum story with passion to a prospective donor develop relationships and contribute to our strategic project work.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Manage a portfolio of 100 plus individual / corporate major giving donors.
  • Oversee processes and systems to ensure good stewardship of the portfolio.
  • Coordinate and participate in major donor relationship building.
  • Strategic project work.

What do you need to do the job well:

  • Demonstrated experience communicating powerful stories in multiple mediums.
  • At least three years of not-for-profit fundraising experience. Equivalent private sector experience (i.e. marketing/business development etc.) will be considered.
  • Project management expertise and experience.
  • A post secondary certificate or related studies.
  • Knowledge of the Calgary philanthropic community is an asset.
  • Current knowledge of fundraising best practices and techniques is a strong asset.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge database is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community economic development and poverty issues is an asset.
  • Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and Internet systems essential.
  • Willingness to learn and take courses that will contribute to the knowledge strength of the organization (i.e., CFRE).

Major Responsibilities

Major gifts:

  • A focus on securing major gifts and increasing the revenue of Momentums donor community.
  • Submit proposals and letters of interest to prospective donors that have been qualifies and cultivated.
  • Prospect donors that align with the core values and mission of Momentum.
  • Share by storytelling the mission and vision of our work and the successes of our participants.
  • Write mini cases for support for donors highlighting key investment areas.

Process and systems oversight:

  • Update all donor activity and learned knowledge in Raisers Edge including actions, timelines, and solicitations.
  • Create strategic plans for donor Identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship via moves management.

Strategic Projects:

  • Assess current major giving experience and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Investigate funding opportunities that will support Momentums need for undesignated funds.
  • Create a compelling format/framework for annual resource development workplan.
  • Other tasks and projects as they arise.

Departmental and Community Involvement:

  • Development of a broad network of relationships throughout organizations to support fundraising efforts and contribute to organization-wide success.
