Marketing & Communications Specialist

As the next marketing & communications specialist at Calgary Opera, you will be responsible for the integration and implementation of all internal/external communications and activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership.

As the marketing & communications specialist, your day-to-day responsibilities will be to:

  • Work alongside all departments to determine their Marketing & Communication needs while developing marketing plans and strategies.
  • Design and print brochures, programs, and marketing assets such as social media content.
  • Take leadership of communications strategies and marketing plans while overseeing content development and identifying the best platforms to maximize impact and outreach.
  • Support the management and capabilities of the current website.
  • Monitor opportunities for continuous improvement of tactics, tools, technology, and processes.
  • Maintain a detailed annual planning calendar to manage shifting priorities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for outside marketing vendors for assets such as archival photos, designers, and printers, etc.
  • Represent the Calgary Opera in a professional, friendly manner and build strong relationships with all stakeholders.

The right candidate will demonstrate on their resume:

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in managing communications, media relations, or marketing programs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of implementing sales strategies.
  • Exceptional written, presentational skills, and attention to detail as evidenced by your resume and cover letter.
  • Experience with design software such as the Adobe Suite.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and exposure to social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of ticketing databases and CRM’s will be considered an asset.
