Characters:

  • Peggy Ho: Female, 50’s, Chinese
Calgary or Edmonton, or local only.
A fiercely independent social butterfly, Peggy must adjust to being Gordon’s caregiver even if it messes with her chi. She’s a generous spirit who welcomes Antony’s best friend Whyte Wyne into the family as if he were her own son. She is happiest when her family is together at home, where she can be the matriarch overseeing everything. Must be familiar with or speak conversational Cantonese.
    Recurring
  • Ben Ho: Male teenager, 18 to 25, Chinese
Calgary or Edmonton or local only.
Dry, wickedly smart, younger brother to Riesling. He is deft at shifting from “perfect Asian son” with stellar grades and sick violin skills to rebellious teenager with a penchant for stealing booze and hitting up garage rap cyphers. He is caught between his Chinese heritage and being a first generation Canadian teenager. Ability to play violin or erhu a plus.
    Recurring
  • Rudy C: Female, late 20’s to 30’s, Indigenous Canadian
Calgary or Edmonton or local only.
Striking, physically intimidating rapper who is the top dog of the local scene. Her presence commands respect. When she walks in a room all eyes are on her, and those in the know can’t wait to hear her latest rhymes. Fiercely competitive and take-no-prisoners, to her, hip-hop is a way of life and an artform: she doesn’t have time for fake big city rappers. Must be able to rap.
    Guest star
  • Gladstone: Male, late 20’s early 30’s, man of colour
A former Canadian television star in his teens turned famous rapper and international hip-hop mogul. He represents his hometown of Toronto aggressively and has turned the city’s culture into a global brand. He is always on the hunt for the next big thing in Canadian hip-hop, but never bigger than him. Recognizable social media influencers, celebrities, or professional rap artists, a major plus.
    Guest star
  • Thomas AKA Vape Guy: Male late 20’s, Indigenous Canadian
Calgary or Edmonton or local only.
A big friendly giant of a man who can be found at any music event or house party in Coaldale, chilling in the corner munching on snacks and hauling on his vape. He’s a major fan of Ming’s Garden Chinese food and takes a liking to Whyte and Riesling.
    Principal
