Every Monday at 2:00pm MST, Youth Singers of Calgary (YSC) is offering 20-minute music classes on Facebook Live, led by its Director of People & Education, Megan Emmett. The class is designed for children in kindergarten to grade six and features vocal warmups, breathing exercises, body percussion, singalongs, music ideas, and much more. YSC knows that Calgary’s music specialists are hard at work supporting classroom teachers and students during this time of remote learning and that many students are not receiving any music instruction. According to the National Association of Music Merchants, music education plays a key role in child development by improving communication skills, literacy, and confidence.
