Winter guard utilizes the flags, rifles, sabres and dance traditionally associated with marching bands and drum corps and puts them in an indoor setting. This activity combines the beauty and pageantry of dance, the drama of theatre and the precision of a marching band into one production.

Dynamic Winterguard is a non-profit organization that recruits the best and brightest performers from Alberta in order to develop a world-class program. Dynamic exists to offer young people a quality educational and performance experience in turn, developing members into culturally enriched, caring, motivated, responsible and goal-oriented adults. Dynamic Winterguard participates in competitions with Winter Guard International (WGI).

The program is a large-scale production with many opportunities for the group to compete through the year.

Dynamic Winterguard is looking for a person who is looking to develop a dance technique program as well as create movement choreography among a unique population of competitive colour-guard performers.

The successful candidate will be working with designers and other choreographers to create one program of which the theme is pre-selected. Opportunity to work and integrate with different professionals of the colour guard community.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

• Develop a movement program that incorporates basic dance technique with the development of body awareness.
• Choreograph dance/movement parts for the 2019 production that meets the theme.

Qualifications:

• Strength in modern, contemporary, and physical theatre preferred.
• Strengths in teaching variety of levels and abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively as an artistic team with other instructors.
• Ability to think quickly on the fly and problem solve/troubleshoot for production modifications.
