Climate change can feel like an impossible mountain to climb. Together can we create actions to address this climate crisis. The Moving Mountains Climate Conference will take place on March 27 to 29, 2020. The conference is in partnership with Innovate Calgary and Regen (Regeneration Learning Society). Our goal is to build stronger connections between peers, identify how your climate solution(s) can be successful in a supportive learning environment. Call for Proposals The Moving Mountains Climate Conference is seeking proposals for interactive installations to be featured at the Moving Mountains Climate Conference on March 27 to 29, 2020. The conference will take place at the Life Sciences Innovation Hub at the University of Calgary (3655 26th St. NW). Three artworks will be selected and the artist (or team) will be paid $1,000 each, which includes the artist fee and materials budget. The artist (or team) will also receive a free pass to the conference. The install will occur on March 26, 2020 beginning at 10:00am. The submission deadline is Sunday, March 1, 2020. Artworks should consider how a single action can manifest into collective change and/or how climate change informs the future of decolonization, poverty, business, emotional well being, or other social issues. Concepts should be proactive and future-thinking since the conference’s aim is to offer the public ways in which they can help. Preferences Preference will be given to proposals that: Allow for public interactivity but are not reliant on the artist being stationed at the site of the installation. Explore climate change in an experiential manner. This program is organized by Innovate Calgary and Regen (Regeneration Learning Society). Submission Requirements Submission requirements should include: Brief description of work including: Concept Materials Engagement and interactivity components Artist CV (max two pages) Up to three examples of past work Images must be embedded in the submitted PDF document. Video links only (max five minutes for each video) All submission requirements must be submitted in a single PDF file to arts@regenerationsociety.ca by no later than March 1, 2020. Artists who face barriers including, but not limited to, youth, emerging artists, BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+ or individuals with lived experience with poverty are encouraged to apply.
