Archived March 19, 2019 Music Stage Management and Production Assistant Practicum The application deadline for this opportunity has passed. Work with Banff Centre’s Production Team on all Banff Centre productions, presentations, conferences, and outreach programs. Responsibilities may include creating production and rehearsal schedules; communicating requirements with sound, lighting, and staging teams; operating basic sound and lighting equipment; calling show cues for concerts, competitions, and events; and advancing shows. You may also have an opportunity to prep and order equipment for artists, set up artist studios, load trucks, maintain percussion and string instrument inventories, and create rehearsal and show reports. What does the Program Offer? Much of the training material is show-driven; you can expect to work on a wide array of shows with a concentration in music programming as presented by Banff Centre. You will also experience one-on-one mentorship and coaching from our seasoned professional staff and have the opportunity to work alongside a range of artists at various career stages. You will leave Banff Centre with marketable skills and the confidence and competence to step up into roles as a specialized professional. Our alumni can be found nationally and internationally working at dance, music, opera, and theatre companies and training at universities and colleges including Cirque Du Soleil, the Stratford and Shaw Festivals, the National Theatre School, the National Arts Centre, the National Ballet of Canada, and the Canadian Opera Company. Who Should Apply? Ideal applicants will have completed formal technical theatre training at an accredited institution or have equivalent work experience and a passionate interest in the entertainment industry. They will be able to demonstrate strong organizational aptitude and be computer literate with an interest in exploring theatre, music, and production technologies.
