Online Stop-Motion Animation Camp for Youth

Dates: July 27 – August 7, 2020, Monday – Friday (two-week session)
Times: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Instructor: Theresa Pinhey
Fee: $300 for Quickdraw members, $330 for non-members

Do you love films like Coraline, Kubo and the Two Strings, and Wallace and Grommet? Do you ever wonder how those films are made? Here’s a chance to find out!

In this two-week, online adventure, participants will learn the basics of animation through the technique of stop-motion animation. Using our down-shooter cameras and a professional stop-motion program, participants will make animated films with paper puppets, animated personal objects, and more! Each student will complete a short animated movie with sound and receive a compilation of the class’ work at the end of the camp!

Requirements
  • Computer
  • Webcam (we can lend you one upon request)
  • Drawing materials
  • Stop-motion set up—we will provide you with a stop-motion camera setup! This rental will require a $100 refundable deposit with the purchase of the camp, which will be reimbursed upon the return of equipment.
  • Dragonframe software license—Iicluded with the camp fee for the duration of the camp.
About the Instructor

Theresa is a local artist in Calgary, Alberta! Her interests include knitting, snowboarding, video gaming and of course, animating! She’s been with QAS since she was 12 years old as a QuickKid, which inspired her to study digital media as a career. Theresa graduated in New Media at the University of Lethbridge and taught with QAS for a year until moving to Yamanashi, Japan for three years as a high school English teacher. Since returning to Canada, Theresa has been working with QAS and other companies as an independent artist and instructor.
