Parking Lot Design Competition

The application deadline for this opportunity has passed.

Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, in partnership with Calgary Parking Authority, is issuing a request for qualifications (RFQ) to find a partner who will design and build a creative intervention that re-imagines how surface parking lots can be designed. The design will delight and inspire, while still enabling the site to operate as a successful parking lot for 25 of the 30 parking stalls during peak hours.

The goal of this project is to:

  • Encourage critical thought and debate on how parking lots can be designed.
  • Beautify a utilitarian space.
  • Improve the quality of life to users and residents.
  • Placemake; turn a space into a place where people have a positive emotional experience.

This RFQ is open to teams and individuals consisting of artists, urban designers, engineers, planners, architects, landscape architects, community associations, business improvement districts, or other.
