Auditions March 23, 2022 Parts & Labour Audition for Parts & Labour, new verbatim text play by Col Cseke Directed by Mieko Ouchi Produced by Field Work About The Show Parts & Labor is a documentary play centered around the diverse experiences of temporary foreign workers in meat packing plants in Alberta. Through verbatim text, Parts & Labour documents the experiences of 40+ real people including workers, community organizers, community residents, researchers, politicians, and more. Through a four-person ensemble each actor will portray multiple people of various ages, genders, and ethnicities. Parts & Labor has been in development in various iterations since 2014, including an online version centered around the COVID-19 outbreaks at meat packing plants. Artists will be contracted under the C.A.E.A. D.O.T. policy. Production Dates Parts & Labor will rehearse and premiere in Calgary and will travel to Brooks and High River, Alberta. We’ll start each new project by choosing the right form to tell the story, whether that’s live performance, oral history, audio documentary, storytelling nights, or something else entirely. Field Work was initiated by Col Cseke and features an evolving group of amazing artists, storytellers, writers, and performers.
