Job Summary

We are excited to announce that we are gearing up for our 23rd annual Calgary International Film Festival, and are looking forward to welcoming a new payroll administrator to our ranks. The payroll administrator contractor position will support the permanent and seasonal staff here in Calgary with all payroll and benefit capacities.

Essential Functions:

  • Act as the main administrator on CIFF’s payroll system (ADP).
  • Support CIFF staff onboarding and off-boarding with regards to payroll and benefits, and act as an administrator on CIFF’s HRIS (Bamboo HR) in this regard.
  • Create, process and help ensure the accuracy of bi-monthly payroll runs, and special payroll runs as required, including regular base pay, overtime pay, holiday pay, vacation pay, severance pay, approved expense reimbursements and other approved reimbursements.
  • Create and process Records of Employment runs as required.
  • Prepare and send annual T4 and T4A pay statements to employees, and annual Payroll Returns to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  • Represent CIFF to the CRA with regards to CIFF’s CRA payroll account.
  • Act as the main administrator on CIFF’s employee benefits program, and represent CIFF to the benefits provider.
  • Support CIFF management and the finance team in maintaining complete and accurate payroll records.
  • Provide payroll data and analysis for use by CIFF management when required.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports and survey responses to Statistics Canada and other government agencies when required.
  • Provide information to employees and answer employee questions with regards to payroll and benefits.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Ability to collaborate and work well in a team environment.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Reliable, hardworking and resourceful.
  • Friendly and outgoing.
  • Experience with ADP.
  • Experience with Bamboo HR and myHSA an asset.

Approximate Work Hours

An approximation of hours per month is 10 – 15, dependent on operational needs and business flow. It is understood that hours may be increased between August and October due to on and off-boarding of seasonal staff for the festival.
