Archived August 30, 2018 Photographing Your Artwork Artist Professional Development Photographing your artwork is a necessity. So much time is invested in its creation that as artists, we owe it to ourselves, the galleries, and our collectors to photograph it properly. In this workshop, artist and photographer Grant Waddell will cover many important topics on how to best capture an image of your artwork. Topics that will be covered include: How to properly light your artwork with both natural and inexpensive studio lights. Which camera settings to use for the best results. How to use cross polarization to eliminate glare. The necessary equipment to get the most out of your work. How to take images of both flat artwork and three-dimensional work such as sculpture. How to edit images—including colour correcting and cropping, as well as ways of cataloguing images What formats to use when delivering your photos to potential clients. We’ll also play with smartphones and talk about how to get the best possible image from them when we need something quick. There will be time at the end of the workshop to experiment with taking your own pictures of your own artwork.
