Creative Calgary convenes and mobilizes Calgary’s arts sector to advocate for strong civic funding and integration of the arts in city-building initiatives.

In 2017, Creative Calgary’s collective of non-partisan volunteers advocated for increased municipal investment to the local arts sector and launched a campaign to raise awareness about the economic contributions and intrinsic value artists and arts organizations bring to the city of Calgary.

The overall efforts resulted in Calgary Arts Development’s funding increasing from $6.4M to $12.4M in 2019, with additional increases planned in subsequent years in the four-year budget cycle.

Creative Calgary has over 90 organizational and individual members and is led by a volunteer advisory board.
