Registration is now open for the Pumphouse Theatre’s fall drama classes! There are five amazing classes to choose from for students aged six to 17. All classes are taught by professional performers and educators. Whether you have never participated in a drama class before, or you are a seasoned veteran, there is something for everyone! Come and join the fun at the Pumphouse Theatre this Fall!

Playful Drama

Ages: 6-8
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Mondays, September 23 – December 2, 2019, (no class on October 14) 5:00 – 6:00pm
Fee: $125 ($100 discounted)

This course is a great introduction to the drama basics and covers a variety of topics including storytelling, character, sharing, movement, and theatre games. This is a wonderful way to help your child explore their imagination, learn new skills, and have fun! No experience required!

Creation in Motion

Ages: 9-12
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Monday, September 23 – December 2, 2019, (no class on October 14) 6:00 – 8:00pm
Fee: $250 ($225 discounted)

Explore storytelling and harness imagination through physicality. Creation in Motion will encourage creative expression through movement, choreography, mime, balance, staging, and mask. Students will learn about teamwork, gain self-confidence, and be physically active, all within a safe and engaging environment. No previous experience is required!

Theatre Arts Exploration

Ages: 9-12
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Saturdays, September 28 – December 7, 2019, (no class on October 12) 10:00am – 12:00pm
Class fee: $250 ($225 discounted)

This course is an all-inclusive exploration of the theatre arts. Students will be encouraged to discover a variety of dramatic techniques such as character creation, improvisation, movement, Shakespeare, scene study, and more! Have a blast creating and performing an original final presentation for friends and family. No previous experience required!

Improv for Teens!

Ages: 13-17
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Saturdays, September 28 – December 7, 2019 (no class on October 12) 10:00am – 12:00pm
Class fee: $325 ($300 discounted)

Improv is a great way to have fun and explore while bolstering creativity, adaptability, teamwork, and confidence. This course includes lessons in theatresports, character development, storytelling, and many favourite improvisation games. Be inspired to think outside the box, learn something new, and have fun! No previous experience is required!

Playwriting for Teens

Ages: 13-17
Location: Pumphouse Theatre
Dates: Sundays, September 22 – December 1, 2019 (no class on October 13) 10:00am – 12:00pm
Class fee: $325 ($300 discounted)

This course is designed to give young performers a deeper understanding into the written world of theatre. Through examining classic and contemporary text, students will be guided to explore the craft of playwriting and dramaturgy and learn what it means to tell an effective story. Students will be able to have the opportunity to write their own monologues and short ten minute plays.

All classes are 10 weeks in length and are held at the Pumphouse Theatre (2140 Pumphouse Ave. SW). Register before August 26, 2019, or register more than one member of the same family and receive a discounted price!
