The deadline is fast approaching for The Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery! The Pumphouse Theatre is looking for photographic work of Calgary and Alberta artists to be displayed in our gallery between January 17 and March 9, 2019.

The Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery
Submissions are now open for The Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery Exhibit: What Lies Beneath – A Journey through Historic & Modern Calgary January 17 to March 9, 2019.
The Pumphouse Theatre is a vibrant facility with historical significance supporting and presenting all art forms; and creating opportunities for engagement, enrichment, cultural experience, learning and inspiration serving all Calgarians. The Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery provides accessible wall display space for Calgary and Alberta visual artists to display and sell their work, free from commission.
For this exhibit, we are asking for photographic work that showcases the City of Calgary, either historically or contemporary. Submitted work must reflect the parts of the City which would be considered hidden, under-represented, or forgotten.
Submissions must meet the following requirements:
- Artist resides in Alberta and must be available for installation.
- Art must meet the criteria of the theme presented and meet the form of photography.
- Artwork must be delivered ready to hang on our hanging system (wall-space only).
Installation Requirements
All art must be equipped with picture hanging wire and appropriately placed D ring hangers. Hanging cleats will not be accepted.

- Artwork: Photos, maximum of five, do not send original works.
Timelines
Submission Deadline: November 30, 2018, 4:00pm
Installation: January 13 – January 15, 2019

Selection Process
Art pieces are selected by a committee of no less than three people and are a mix of artists and administrators. Selection criteria are based on suitability to the theme, artist’s technique, elicited emotional response, creativity, and innovation, and suitability for the Pumphouse Theatre art gallery space and its patrons (ages five to 85 representing various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds)
