Receiving/ Ecommerce Assistant
We are looking for vibrant sewists with a love of fabric, textiles, fashion and an awesome attention to detail to join our receiving and e-commerce team! We are currently located in Inglewood but will soon be moving to 4704 Manhattan Rd. SE.
Rick Rack features indie pattern designers, nifty notions, and inspiring fabrics. Our team is responsible for providing excellent customer service to everyone who is looking to get sewing!
Availability Requirements
The right person is:
- Available to work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
- Interested in a schedule with ongoing opportunities for additional scheduled shifts and pick up opportunities
Duties
The assistant position at Rick Rack includes the following:
- Providing excellent customer service.
- Offering assistance with pattern selection and fabric pairings.
- Cutting fabric and haberdashery to measure.
- Answering phone and email inquiries.
- Receive product shipments and enter into system.
- Assisting with Shopify e-commerce order fulfillment.
- Inventory Management: Checking and adjusting inventory as needed.
- Booking workshops and processing services online.
- Acting as an ambassador for Rick Rack.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy back room with daily duties.
- Follow protocol to ensure product is live on Shopify.
- Processing print job requests from customers.
- Work with ecommerce team to identify areas of improvement for procedures.
- Continually ensure that online data is correct and take steps with the team to fix any errors that are identified.
Skills Needed
Here is a handy list of the core skills needed:
- Must have basic knowledge of garment sewing.
- Previous experience with Shopify is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or other editing software is an asset.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Detail-oriented.
- Must be a team player and enjoy social interaction.
- Previous retail experience is a bonus.
- Problem solver extraordinaire.
- Ability to multitask and maintain a sense of calm during busy times.
- Self-starter; work with limited supervision.
Training
We work closely with new sales associates so that their experience at Rick Rack is a success. We do this by:
- Providing one-on-one training for the POS system, Shopify, bookings system, phone system, print job processes, daily email, opening and end of shift procedures.
- Providing training on fabric selections and a review of products.
- Facilitating bi-annual team training sessions.

Compensation
