Be part of a RISE UP Weekend to celebrate the safe relaunch of live arts events. RISE UP Calgary is searching for local presenting partners—groups or individuals—to collaborate with selected safe partner venues to produce and perform one, two, and three-day RISE UP Weekend events this fall and winter (September 30 to December 15, 2021) in Calgary . As part of the safe relaunch of live events, RISE UP Calgary will be covering the rental and production costs of the selected venues and collaborating with presenting partners to showcase up to 20 local live performances through to the end of 2021. These RISE UP Weekends will feature local live entertainment during one, two, and three-day events (depending on the safe venue, presenting partner availability, and preferred dates). If selected as a presenting partner, RISE UP will cover your rental and production costs associated with the venue you select (pending approval of their safety protocols by The City of Calgary) and offer up to a maximum of $5,000 to help with programming costs. Presenting partners will be responsible for the remainder of the costs and will keep revenue from ticket sales. We welcome presenting partner applications from organizations, groups or individuals working in all artistic disciplines and their various cultural forms, including circus arts, craft arts, community and social practice, curation, dance, Deaf/deaf arts, digital arts, disability arts, film, Indigenous arts, literature, media arts, multidisciplinary practice, music and sound, performance, theatre, and visual arts. Safety First Priority will be given to partners who demonstrate a commitment to public safety. Presenting partners are asked to demonstrate their ability to adapt to any changes to COVID-19 health regulations made by Alberta Health Services and work within the partner venue’s and RISE UP’s COVID-19 mitigation protocols as required. Timeline Submissions open at 5:00pm MT on September 7, 2021. Submissions close at 5:00pm MT on September 21, 2021. Preliminarily selected presenting partners may be contacted shortly after submissions close to submit additional information to be reviewed by the RISE UP team. If you have listed a new venue that requires approval to become a safe-site venue partner, you will be contacted shortly after submissions close so the City of Calgary’s Interdepartmental Events Team (IET) can review your venue’s eligibility. Final selected presenting partners will be notified by email by September 28, 2021. RISE UP Weekends 2021 dates will be announced on the RISE UP Calgary website.
