Shelf Life Books seeks an experienced and engaged individual to fill a part-time position of events coordinator. The events coordinator works in tandem with a second coordinator, planning and organizing events in relation to the local literary community, both in-store and off-site.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Point of contact for authors, speakers or publicists looking to host events with Shelf Life Books.
  • Organizing events from start to finish.
  • Act as event host.
  • Event book stock ordering.
  • Transportation of books/materials to/from events outside of the store:
    • Ability to drive is a necessity.
    • Car is an asset.
  • Standard bookstore clerk duties, such as point of sale, receiving and shelving.

Desired skills and qualifications include:

  • Experience in events planning or other project coordination experience.
  • Communications or English degree is an asset.
  • Interest in, knowledge of or ties to the local literary community.
  • Organized and efficient.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and/or Numbers, Microsoft Publisher and/or Pages, OneNote (or ability to quickly learn new computer skills).
  • Must have a friendly manner and a love of literature.

This is a part-time position with varying shifts; some evening, daytime and weekend availability may be required.
